I am a teaching and performing artist who combines a love and passion for music with the practical, whole body approaches of Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique.
My work as a musician allows me to practically apply the knowledge I’ve gleaned over almost 30 years working in the fields of Body Mapping and the Alexander Technique. My work as a coach facilitates the process for others seeking greater ease and embodiment while creating compelling musical performances.
I find that the most confident musical performances come from ones that have been well thought out and practiced. I love coaching people to find ways of practicing that improve their musicianship by aiding them in understanding how the whole body works. Most discover they play more easily and comfortably while their joy of making music increases as well as their confidence as performers.
Amy’s teaching practice varies with all ages of musicians. She is a teaching artist mentor for the Oakland Symphony’s MUSE program, Instructor of Flute at St. Mary’s College of California, Director of Training for the Association of Body Mapping Education and regularly teaches the Alexander Technique.
